Background: “Lucky’s” is probably our most re-requested "Lenten" piece in our repertoire. For example, we have one church that has been booking us twelve years in a row for their high school retreats, and they insist, since we introduced the piece, that we do “Lucky’s” and the accompanying lesson plan and Reconciliation service. We are always amazed at the number of teens who voluntarily choose to participate in Reconciliation afterwards. Done well, this service can truly touch the hearts of your young people...and adults as well.
Cast, Supplies and Staging: Three players, any gender. Supplies needed are six pieces of 1.5 yards of cloth, assorted colors including one rainbow colored cloth. Staging requires only two simple chairs.
Synopsis: An "Everyperson" character wanders into Lucky's (Lucifer's) Mall store to find some way feel a little less lost, a little less alone. Lucky is more than happy to assist them, smothering them in layers of colored cloth that represents many different kinds of temptations and life issues. After Everyperson is smothered, Lucky abandons them. Everyperson is then met by God who gently helps them to trade their old ways for new ways. God leaves Everyperson a rainbow colored cloth to help them remember that God is always present.
